1. Call to Order and Roll Call

The meeting was called to order at 5:15 PM. Commissioners present:  Berliner, Cardenas, Wu and Edelhart.  Staff present:  Monica Guzman.  There was quorum.

There was no public comment.

2. Approval of Agenda (Action Item)

Commissioner Edelhart, seconded by Commissioner Jillian Wu, moved to approve the agenda.  There was no public comment.  The motion was approved by acclamation.


3. Approval of Minutes (Action Item)

Commissioner Cardenas, seconded by Commissioner Berliner, moved to approve the minutes.  There was no public comment.  The motion was approved by acclamation.

A. Review SFPD priorities

Commissioner Berliner gave a report back and review on the training demonstration that her and Commissioner Cardenas attended.  Overall they stated that it was an informative event. San Francisco Police Commission president, Suzy Loftus, suggested that the YC do a GAP analysis of past trainings. Before doing this the YC wanted to brainstorm other methods of reaching out to SFPD, community members and SF Police Commission. Commissioner Loftus offered to schedule a briefing with current SFPD command staff.

B. Debrief press event on jail visiting age

Commissioner Berliner gave a debrief on how the lowering of the jail visiting age press release went yesterday. Overall it was a successful event with a good amount of press coverage.

C. Review highlights from JPD budget

YC is waiting on an update from Chief Nance regarding budgeting questions.

D. Review plan for crafting end of term committee briefing documents

Commissioner Berliner asked how committee wants to pass on knowledge to next year’s committee. Commissioner Cardenas said that last year they did some background research on committee priorities and suggested next steps. The Youth Justice committee had a brainstorm session.

E. Review committee summer meeting schedule

The committee decided to keep the same hours for the summer meetings. Same time and same place, next 3 meetings.

7. Staff Report (Discussion Only)

Invitation to Kinectic Konnection happening on Thursday June 11th.

There was none.

Meeting adjourned at 6:02 PM.
