1. Call to Order and Roll Call

Chair Berliner called the meeting to order at 5:10 pm. Commissioners present: Cardenas, Berliner, Wu, Edelhart. Staff present: Monica Guzman. There was quorum.

2. Approval of Agenda (Action Item)

Commissioner Cardenas, seconded by Commissioner Wu, moved to approve the agenda. There was no public comment. The motion was approved by acclamation.

3. Approval of Minutes (Action Item)

Commissioner Wu, seconded by Commissioner Cardenas, moved to approve the minutes. There was no public comment. The motion was approved by acclamation.

4. Public Comment on Items not on Agenda (Discussion Only)

There was none.

5. Business (All Items to Follow Discussion and Possible Action)

A. Review SFPD priorities

Commissioner Edelhart updated the committee about the call with Center for Youth Wellness. The main topic discussed was what type of support the YJ committee would give to the CYW’s ACES training if they decided to support it. They decided that they did want to work with the CYW on their ACES training and help incorporate more of a youth voice. Specifically they highlighted the importance of tactical training needs including particular scenarios and best practices. They then discussed the role of youth in this training and what organizations should be contacted to recruit youth. Lastly they discussed funding possibilities for the training. There was no public comment.

B. Work on committee briefing documents for next term

Commissioners gave status updates on their drafting process and worked on their draft of the briefing document during the meeting. They are almost finished with this document and just need a few more edits. There was no public comment.

C. Other committee priorities

The YJ committee did not have other priority updates to discuss. There was no public comment.

6. Staff Report (Discussion Only)

Staff, Monica, updated the YJ committee on two upcoming events on August 4 and August 11th where YCers have been invited to speak.
