1. Call to Order and Roll Call

The meeting was called to order at 5:43 PM. Commissioner present: Grace Pating, Hatim Mansori, Jessica Calderon. Commissioner Galeano was absent. There was quorum. Commissioner Galeano noted present at 6:15 pm.

Staff present: Adele Failes-Carpenter

There was no public comment.

2. Approval of Agenda (Action Item)

Commissioner Pating, seconded by Commission Mansori, moved to approve the agenda. There was no public comment. The motion was approved by acclamation.


3. Approval of Minutes (Action Item)

Commissioner Pating, seconded by Commissioner Galeano, moved to approve the minutes. There was no public comment. The motion was approved by acclamation.

4. Public Comment on Items not on Agenda (Discussion Only)

There was none.

5. Presentations (All Items to Follow Discussion and Possible Action)

A. Presentation on Woodside Learning Center
Presenter: Chris Lanier, Principal, SFUSD Court Schools

Chris Lanier, Principal of the court schools in San Francisco gave an informational presentation.


6. Business (All Items to Follow Discussion and Possible Action)

A. Review and discuss updates on police training priority

The committee did a recap of last meeting. These were the possible next steps they decided on:

• Samara Marion from the Office of Citizens Complaints will come on November 20th
• Conducting a gap analysis on police training, particularly around youth issues
• Scheduling a meeting with Lt. Hart (training academy)
• Scheduling a meeting with the Center for Youth Wellness
• Scheduling a meeting with Lt. Fatooh for an update on the MOU with SFUSD
• Scheduling a meeting with One Family

Some questions the committee has for the Center for Youth Wellness are:
• Could there be a focus group with police officers regarding youth procedures
• Could the police officers who work at schools be part of this focus group or those who receive initial training


B. Review and discuss other committee priorities

Some of the next steps for other committee priorities are:

• Scheduling a meeting with Suzy Loftus
• Scheduling a meeting with Jessica Flintoff on November 23rd (having a special meeting on Monday November 23rd)

C. Debrief presentation on Woodside Learning Center

The committee felt the presentation was informative.

7. Executive Committee Report

There was none.

8. Staff Report

Staff reminded commissioners to make one of their DCYF district town hall meetings and to review the legislation that will be heard on Monday.
