Mary Claire Salmingo Amable is a San Francisco native born and raised in the Tenderloin with strong roots in the South of Market. She is a 4th year at San Francisco State University studying Asian American Studies and aims to go back to graduate school to pursue urban planning. Claire’s advocacy background includes being a member of Youth Organizing Home and Neighborhood Action (YOHANA), Gabriela SF, Community Action Model, Asian Youth Prevention Services, and South of Market Community Action Network (SOMCAN). Issues she is passionate about are housing, lack of green space, alcohol density and pedestrian safety. Claire hopes to bring her variety of experiences to the table while representing District 6 on the Youth Commission.  Fun fact about Claire: she enjoys reading and writing poetry that reflects her experiences growing up in San Francisco.
