Free Parking and Muni for Lunar New Year
Once again we are partnering with SFMTA to provide one hour free parking in Portsmouth Square for the Lunar New Year month, February 7 - March 7, 2026 and free Muni citywide on the Lunar New Year parade day March 7, 2026.
This partnership first began when the city and community was emerging from the aftermath of the pandemic with a goal to reconnect residents and visitors back to the largest Chinese New Year festival and parade in North America. This partnership will not only bring people together to celebrate the Year of the Horse but continues to contribute greatly to the revitalization of San Francisco Chinatown and the Downtown community.
D1 Updates
RAMS Grand Opening
We recently joined Mayor Lurie, former Assemblymember Phil Ting and the Richmond Area Multi-Services (RAMS) team for a ribbon cutting at their new site on the corner of Clement Street and 7th Avenue. I am grateful for former Assemblymember Ting's partnership to help fund this new site by matching the city's API Equity Fund grant, which I established in 2022 to stabilize API-serving organizations through capital investments.
RAMS provides critical wrap around counseling, mental health, and vocational health services with language and cultural competency for the well-being of the Richmond and citywide. It was wonderful to see the new beautiful space where RAMS clinicians and staff provide direct, critical service to our community.
The new Clement site now serves as a hub for RAMS' outpatient behavioral health services for all ages which provides school-linked youth mental wellness support. It is also home to the Training Institute, which focuses on training the next generation of clinicians in ethno-centric and culturally informed mental health care.
Resolution to Support Trans Youth
This week, I stood with our trans community and families to affirm San Francisco's commitment to protecting our transgender, gender-expansive, and LGBTQIA+ youth. With the Federal Government cutting access to care, we must continue to demand that healthcare is recognized as a right for everyone, and that includes having gender-affirming care, available and covered by insurance and healthcare providers for youth and adolescents.
