Statement on Federal Enforcement in San Francisco |
Our communities are under attack. I want to make it clear that ICE, CBP, and federal deployment are not welcome in San Francisco. San Francisco is a Sanctuary City. We will not back down!.
Federal agents will create fear and chaos, separating our families. It won’t improve public safety, it will do the opposite. We’ve seen this before— exclusion, profiling, division— and we say never again. We must continue to stand with our immigrant families, to stay united, while we protect our most vulnerable and stand in solidarity with our immigrant brothers and sisters.
I continue to work in partnership with community organizations to ensure access to resources, rights training, and legal defense. On Thursday, October 23, my colleagues and I, with the leadership of Budget Committee Chair Supervisor Connie Chan announced that the city will direct an additional $3.5 million to the Immigrant Defense Fund to bolster legal aid and the San Francisco Rapid Response Network. We must continue to ensure support for our trusted networks to protect our communities.
If you see Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in San Francisco, call the Rapid Response Network: 415-200-1548 to connect the people affected to legal assistance.
Visit the San Francisco Office of Civic Engagement and Immigrant Affairs (OCEIA) website for more resources, including how to access legal and community support, and resources for those needing emergency legal access HERE.
Additional information and resources in multiple languages are accessible on the San Francisco Immigration Forum website HERE.
Stay safe. |

🚗The request to extend the existing Area “V” Residential Parking Permit (RPP) to various blocks in the Excelsior, has been initiated by residents in the area. The SFMTA is conducting an online petition for residents of the proposed RPP blocks. Petitions of support must be received from a minimum of 50% of residential units on each proposed block (defined as both sides of the street, between two cross-streets) to initiate the change. This petition allows residents to express their support or opposition to residential parking for their block.

SFMTA Traffic Calming Updates |
🚸The SFMTA will soon be installing 3 traffic calming devices in District 11, with work expected to be completed by January, weather permitting. It will take about two days of work per location. In Spring of 2026, contractors will install another 14 devices in our district. All residents on affected blocks will be receiving a mailer to let them know about this work.
The SFMTA Traffic Calming Program is a resident-driven, application-based program to address mid-block speeding on residential streets in San Francisco. By installing traffic calming devices, SFMTA seeks to reduce vehicle speeds to make our streets safer and more comfortable for everyone walking, biking, and driving.
Traffic calming devices include speed humps, speed cushions, and speed tables. The exact device depends on conditions on each block. You can read more about these devices on the program webpage. Each location where we are installing these devices is the result of resident requests, where the SFMTA then collected data that confirmed speeding in that location. SFMTA works in partnership with community members to make data-driven decisions to allocate resources to where it will be most beneficial.
Here are the locations scheduled for street calming devices in District 11:
